Nikki Tillman

Hello! My name is Nikki and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I’ve been practicing as a counselor since 2020. I received my bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, where I studied psychology and human development and family science. I received my Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary.

I have always loved sitting down and talking with people, and empathizing about hard things has always been a natural passion of mine. People feeling secure around me to do so is a great privilege. Originally, I wanted to be a general counselor that specializes in treating anxiety and depression. However, over time, I have found a passion and need for family-of-origin trauma counseling. This passion led me to obtain numerous EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trainings through EMDR Chicago. I frequently integrate EMDR into my work with clients, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Polyvagal Theory (PVT).

These, among other techniques, are all tools I use to help my clients dismantle unhelp beliefs about themselves; and move toward self-compassion, love, and becoming the person they were made to be.

If you have found yourself on my page and looking to se if we would be a good fit - first of all, welcome! Finding the right counselor can be so challenging and taking the leap to reach out can be nerve-wracking. I hope the information that I have provided was helpful to you.

If you are struggling with your self-esteem; experiencing chronic negative messages about yourself, others and/or the world; have experienced deep hurt from your childhood and need support in working through those memories; if you struggle with anxiety; and/or if you need support through stressful life transitions; I can definitely assist and would love to talk with you!
